    Frequently asked questions

Your carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (expressed as CO₂e) generated directly and indirectly by your activities, operations, or organisation. For businesses, this includes emissions from fuel combustion, purchased electricity, employee travel, supply chains and waste.
Scope 1 includes direct emissions from sources your business owns or controls, such as company vehicles and on-site fuel combustion. Scope 2 covers purchased energy emissions, mainly electricity. Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions across your value chain — such as employee commuting, business travel, waste and supply chain activity.
Yes. FSBee's carbon calculator is completely free to use for UK small and medium businesses. You can calculate your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and receive a basic sustainability plan at no cost.
FSBee's carbon calculator uses UK government-approved emission factors and standard greenhouse gas accounting methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol. The results are a reliable estimate of your business carbon footprint and suitable for sustainability reporting purposes.
UK SMEs are increasingly required to measure and report carbon emissions by suppliers, customers, financial institutions and the government. The EU CSRD regulation will require SME-level ESG reporting by 2026. Calculating your carbon footprint is the essential first step towards compliance, reducing costs through energy efficiency, and accessing green grants.
After completing all three scopes, FSBee generates a summary of your total carbon emissions broken down by category. You can then build a free sustainability action plan, identify eligible green grants and certifications, and track your reduction progress over time on the FSBee dashboard.
